Language Arts

Mondays & Fridays 8:30-9:30

A mixture of Sonlight and The Good and the Beautiful will be used along with alternative teaching methods. Book studies will be done using various books based upon small group skill levels. Different lessons will be taught on Mondays & Fridays.

ages 7-9

Pre-Algebra

Mondays & Fridays 8:30-9:30

.Saxon Math 8/7 with into to pre-algebra will be used along with alternative teaching methods. Different lessons will be taught on Mondays & Fridays.

ages 11-14

Lap Booking

Mondays & Fridays 9:30-10:30

Students will create mini-books that will include details from history. School House Teacher curriculum will be used. Different lessons will be taught on Mondays & Fridays.

Math

Peer Study Hall

Mondays & Fridays 10:30-11:30

Students may use this time to work on school, get help from peers or get some socialization time. We ask that students stay inside the building and remain respectful of other classes.

Essay 101

Mondays & Fridays 11:30-12:30

Throughout these lessons, homeschool middle school and high school students explore the writing process and apply it to six different essay forms. Students will learn to edit their own work and evaluate their work. The essay forms covered are: expository, biographical, descriptive, personal experience, eyewitness report, and cause and effect. Different lessons will be taught on Mondays & Fridays.

ages 11-14 & 14-18

STEM

Mondays 11:30-12:30

Introduce students to everyday technology and exhibit how simple machines work! This entry-level STEM kit helps kids understand the world around them, while simultaneously creating a solid foundation in STEM concepts that will prepare them for future success. Concepts covered include cause and effect, energy and matter, structure and function, analyzing data, designing solutions, and more. Using the included components and comprehensive guides, students can build a centrifugal governor, manual transmission, wind turbine, a beam balance, and more.

ages 7-14  $80 per month


Mason Jar Science

Fridays 11:30-12:30

Capture big discoveries in the world's smallest science lab, Mason Jars. Your student will dive into the magic of Chemistry and Physics to the amazing worlds of Earth science and Biology.

ages 7-14  $40 per month


Let's Read Book Club: Eric Carle

Tuesdays 9:00-10:00

Come join this fun book club full of bright collage images to give your child a world full of imagination. As your student listens to books written by the famous Eric Carle, a colorful world of hands on fun will make each book come alive. This class will focus on learning through many different methods, giving your child an opportunity to fall in love with books and the imagination they can foster from reading them.

ages 4-7  $40 per month


Lego Story Starters

Tuesdays  9:00-10:00

Pre-Requisite: Needs to be able to write a paragraph. Devices welcome if difficulty writing
This class is a hands-on learning tool that enhances students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. This is an exciting program that is designed to introduce the class to language arts while building teamwork & communication skills. Story Starters teaches students the basic structures of a well composed story, making it a great tool for analyzing stories or discussing specific current topics.

ages 8-12  $40 per month


American Sign Language 3rd Year

Tuesdays 9:00-10:00

Prerequisite: One year of ASL
This class is the second-year sign language class that will continue to focus on teaching students how to communicate in American Sign Language. If your student is on a college bound course and needs a foreign language, most colleges will accept ASL as a fulfillment to this requirement. 

ages 11+  $40 per month


Photography 101

Tuesdays 9:00-10:00

Prerequisite:Need a camera/Phone Camera
In this class students will learn the basics of photography. Topics will include the important functions and techniques of digital photography.

ages 13+  $40 per month


World Geography w/ Flat Stanley

Tuesdays 10:00-11:00

In this class we will study world geography by sending Stanley all over the world. We will learn about the world from the letters we receive and track Stanley by using maps. This class will be a fun and interactive way to learn about the world.

ages 4-7  $40 per month


Bibliovores: Beyond the Civil War

Tuesdays 10:00-11:00

This class is for kids who love books! It will also help those kids who need some gentle persuasion into loving books. Each class will focus on a period of history by reading books & doing hands on activities. Creative book reports on books read outside of class may be required a few times during the year.

ages 5-11 $40 per month


American Sign Language 1st Year

Tuesdays 10:00-11:00

This class is a beginning sign language class that will focus on teaching kids how to communicate in American Sign Language. If your student is on a college bound course, most colleges like to see two years of a foreign language. ASL can fulfill this requirement at some colleges.

ages 11+ $40 per month


Psychology

Tuesdays 10:00-11:00

This is an upper level course on basic modern psychology. The topics covered will include activities and projects to demonstrate acquisition of the material. Some homework may be required. This class will satisfy one credit toward the Social Studies requirement on high school transcript. No textbook is required.

ages 13+ $40 per month


Storybook Stem

Tuesdays 11:00-12:00

This class is an exciting mix of children's literature and STEM projects for younger learners. After reading a story, students will identify a problem and engineer a solution to the problem by using science, technology, engineering and/or math. This class stimulates creativity and encourages students to learn to work together while using a variety of creative materials.

ages 4-7 $40 per month


Cook with Books

Tuesdays 11:00-12:00

WARNING! FOOD WILL BE USED IN THIS CLASS. WE WILL TRY AND ACCOMMODATE FOR ALL FOOD ALLERGIES.
This class is designed to promote a love for reading along with cooking. Each week your student will explore a new recipe to prepare that corresponds with a storybook. A variety of techniques will be used to create a fun, hands on learning experience.


ages 4-8 $40 per month


Rocket Science

Tuesdays 11:00-12:00

Has your student ever wondered what makes airplanes fly, how boats float or why your doorbell works? Then this class is for them. This class will show the science behind how things work by teaching them how to build different gadgets.

ages 8-12 $40 per month


High School Health-1st Semester
Personal Finance-2nd Semester

Tuesdays 11:00-12:00

HS Health is an upper level course on total health. Health is ever changing but we'll use new information as it becomes available.
Personal Finance is an upper level course that will focus on basic finance skills to help students plan for the future. These classes will be taught by Michelle Breedlove who has a B.S. in Community & Public Health. These classes will satisfy .5 credit toward health/wellness and .5 credit toward personal finance required on HS transcript.

ages 13+ $40 per month


Art Lab

Thursdays 9:00-10:00

Art Lab will let your child explore all forms of art mediums over the course of a school year. By exploring different art mediums your child can learn how to be adventurous and imaginative by engaging in diverse art experiences.

ages 5-11 $40 per month


Jr Lab Science: Marine Biology

Thursdays 9:00-10:00

This year the junior scientist will be discovering marine life and environments. This class is designed to correspond with Apologia's Young Explorer Series. IT IS NOT REQUIRED TO USE THE APOLOGIA TEXT. This class will complete most of the suggested experiments and activities in the text. Additional hands on activities will be included throughout the year.

ages 6-11 $40 per month


CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Thursdays 9:00-10:00

This class will turn your student into a super sleuth while learning scientific principles and techniques. Students will become crime scene investigators as they participate in labs, document results and solve crimes. Like real-life forensic scientists they will learn elements of earth, life and physical science as well as critical thinking. Lets get investigating!

ages 11+  $40 per month


Website for Beginners

Thursdays 9:00-10:00

This is a beginners class. Students will design and build a real working website from scratch using HTML, CSS and Javascript. 
REQUIREMENTS: Laptop and Notepad++ (Free to download)

Tinker Lab

Thursday 10:00-11:00

This class offers hands on experience in learning to solve problems, learn from mistakes and work as a team. Projects will include a variety of building, engineering, technology and science topics. This class will use a STEM approach to learning.

Exploring Handwriting through U.S. History

Thursday 10:00-11:00

Exploring Handwriting Through US Geography will give your children two learning opportunities in one! This Super Successful Cursive edition gives children ample opportunities to practice their cursive handwriting skills while learning about the geography of the United States of America.

ages 5-11  $40 per month


Magic Science

Thursday 10:00-11:00

The magic word is...SCIENCE! From chemistry to biology, gravity to electricity, Students will discover the amazing magical powers of science with fun filled, hands on activities.

ages 9-12 $40 per month


Science Lab: Marine Biology

Thursday 10:00-11:00

This class is considered a lab science that satisfies a middle or high school lab course requirement. Labs will include topics such as marine life, ecosystems and dissections.

ages 12+ $40 per month


Homeschool PE

Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

In this class students will learn fun games and activities that will help them in their movement, coordination and sports skills. We emphasize fitness and teamwork. We will learn traditional playground games

ages 5-11 $20 per month


Strategy Games Junior Edition-1st Semester

Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

This class is designed to help students navigate the world of game play. Good sportsmanship, strategy and critical thinking skills will be integrated into each class. Game play will include several card & board games.

ages 8-10  $20 per month


Chain Reactions using LEGO

Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

Build one thing that leads to another and another... Students will design and build amazing moving machines. They can combine these machines in dozens of different ways to make chain reactions.

ages 8-11  $20 per month


Life Skills

Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

In this class students will begin with the three fundamental skills on which all other skills can be built: communication, decision making and goal setting. We will be using the curriculum, Overcoming Obstacles.

ages 12+  $40 per month


High School Art

Thursdays 11:00 - 12:00

Come explore exciting new combinations of mediums and techniques in art! Students will learn shading, drawing techniques and color theory using different mediums in subject matter THEY love! Throw in a little fun history for a complete art experience.
