American History

Biology: As a college-prep high school biology course, this class will give them an understanding of the basic biological world that surrounds them each day of their lives. We will cover topics including botany, zoology, cellular and molecular biology, as well as human anatomy.
American History: This course covers American history from the time of the Native Americans and first European explorers to the 21st Century. It discusses actions and developments on the national level, especially involving the Federal government, as well as issues and events in American culture.

This class will focus on preparing children for Kindergarten while working with children who are at the Kindergarten level in preparing them for first grade. We will focus on academics using Abeka. Abeka focuses on phonics and teaching them to read for those who are ready. We will work on math skills consisting of recognizing numbers and counting to 100 among other math skills as well. We will dabble into science and history. We will utilize imaginary play, books, games, puzzles and manipulatives for learning fun. Character building skills will also be taught as well as units on community helpers and more. Social and emotional development is important at this age and will be developed and nurtured in this class. All children must be fully potty trained.

Students can be creative while learning the basics to sewing to include threading and knotting a needle and sewing on a button. Skills such as use of a stethoscope. Pulse oximeter, sphygmomanometer, and thermometer will be taught as well.
Medical Investigation will teach students how to fill out medical records, learn and understand medical terminology. Students will learn how to utilize the medical diagnostic process in realistic case studies. Practical information such as lifestyle habits and CPR will also be touched on.
The class counts for 1 high school Science credit

In this culinary arts class your child will increase their kitchen vocabulary through hands on baking and cooking experiences. In this class, they will be learning several different measurements and their abbreviations. They will learn in a safe environment how to identify different knives and their specific cuts (example: juliene, small/large dice, batonnet, brunoise, mince). They will also learn different cooking methods (example: boil, steam, roast, bake, sauté, fry). This class will explore the different elements of the kitchen in a fun laid back way showing the beauty of foods, recipes, tradition, math, and science and how they all come together in the kitchen.

BizWiz/Biz World

BizWorld teaches children the basics of entrepreneurship, business, and finance. Students start, fund, and run their own companies by making products created from simple craft materials and culminates with the Sales Bazaar. Students have multiple opportunities to practice leadership, teamwork, and decision making, while honing their math and communication skills.
BizWiz teaches children the basics of money management and investing. Students learn about different types of investments (stocks, bonds, CDs, venture capital, real estate, and collectibles) and create an investment portfolio. Students collaborate in order to set a financial goal, develop an investment strategy and trading plan, create a diversified portfolio, and track their investments which culminates in simulated trading sessions to work toward meeting their financial goals.
